Vitalik Buterin Unveils Ethereum's Quantum-Safe Roadmap with AI-Powered Verification
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has unveiled a major update to the network's technological direction, marking a significant shift in development priorities.
The new roadmap eliminates the old six-phase plan and divides Ethereum's evolution into three architectural layers: consensus (CL), data (DL), and execution (EL).
The main focus of the new strategy is on protecting against future quantum computers, comprehensive user privacy, and integrating AI tools for code verification.
To achieve this, developers have made difficult trade-offs, including declaring Verkle trees obsolete in favor of Poseidon binary trees (PBTs) and other superior constructions.
The updated roadmap also includes key elements such as a post-quantum public-key registry and PQ transactions to ensure aggressive scaling in the context of post-quantum.
