Vitality's Key Players Take Paternity Leave Amid High-Stakes CS2 Events

Team Vitality is facing a double blow as two of its key players announce they will be stepping away from upcoming Counter-Strike events to welcome new children. British rifler William 'mezii' Merriman and French captain Dan 'apEX' Madesclaire will each take paternity leave, with jL slotting in as their substitute.

Mezii's absence removes a core fragging piece from the lineup, while apEX is the team's in-game leader, responsible for calling strategies during matches. The PGL Masters Bucharest carries a $1.25 million prize pool, making it one of the most lucrative offline events on the CS2 calendar.

jL will first replace mezii at the BLAST Open Porto, then fill in for apEX at the PGL Masters Bucharest. This is not the first time Vitality has had to make a substitution due to paternity leave - they previously brought in JACKZ as a substitute when mezii took leave during the BLAST World Finals.
