Wall Street Floodgates Open for Altcoins: Will Investors Follow Suit?
Wall Street brokerages are increasingly making it easier for investors to buy altcoins. Firms like Charles Schwab, E*TRADE, and Interactive Brokers have started adding tokens such as Solana (SOL), XRP, Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) to their platforms.
This expansion could dramatically broaden the crypto market's buyer base, which is currently dominated by Bitcoin. According to a Morgan Stanley survey, investors favor trusted platforms for buying crypto, with established companies being a leading consideration.
However, while Solana and XRP have seen significant demand, other altcoins such as LINK and AVAX have struggled to attract buyers. The uneven fund flows reflect the broader market's current trends, with the CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index standing at 26 out of 100, indicating a Bitcoin-dominated market.
The rollouts by Wall Street brokerages simplify trading for investors, allowing them to buy selected altcoins without opening and funding separate crypto exchange accounts. This could lead to increased adoption and use of these platforms.
