Wall Street Gets a Whole Lot More Accessible to Bitcoin Investors
BlackRock and Bitwise have lowered their minimum requirements for converting privately held Bitcoin into shares of their respective ETFs, making it easier for institutional users to transition from self-custody to a custody structure.
The threshold has been reduced significantly: BlackRock's IBIT now requires just $1 million in Bitcoin to convert, down from $25 million. Bitwise's BITB minimum was cut from $100 million to $3 million.
This change signals that self-custody is no longer reserved for the wealthiest investors, but rather an option available to a larger class of family offices and wealthy clients.
