U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for an investigation into the Commerce Department's decision to ease export controls on high-performance semiconductors to the United Arab Emirates.

The move follows significant investments in President Donald Trump's crypto-linked venture, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), from UAE-based entities.

According to a report by Cointelegraph, WLFI received a $500 million investment in January from an Abu Dhabi-based company, and around the same time, UAE-linked firm MGX deployed a $2 billion investment in Binance using WLFI's stablecoin, USD1.

The Commerce Department then allowed exports of high-performance semiconductors to the UAE and indicated it would give favorable treatment to MGX's license applications.
