Warren Slams Clarity Act as Favoring Crypto Interests Over Consumer Protection
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has renewed her criticism of the CLARITY Act, calling it 'not good crypto legislation' and saying it prioritizes the interests of the cryptocurrency industry over consumer protection, national security, and financial stability.
Warren stated that while she supports federal legislation governing digital assets, the current proposal has been written by the crypto industry to benefit their own interests. She described the CLARITY Act as a 'big giveaway' to the industry and argued it would primarily benefit crypto firms at the expense of retail investors and the broader financial system.
Warren also tied her opposition to President Donald Trump's involvement in digital assets, suggesting that the bill could further benefit his crypto businesses. She accused the crypto industry of attempting to influence lawmakers and stated that law enforcement officials oppose the bill due to concerns about money laundering and other illicit activities.
