Warsh Rejects Clear Rate Guidance, Leaving Bitcoin Traders in the Dark
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh used his first Jackson Hole keynote to reject the market's expectation of clear rate guidance, leaving Bitcoin traders without fresh monetary-policy direction. He emphasized that forward guidance has 'overstayed its welcome' and argued that markets can become too focused on predicting the Fed rather than evaluating economic data.
The lack of a clear rate signal matters for Bitcoin because monetary conditions remain a major driver of crypto liquidity. Higher interest rates can strengthen the appeal of yield-bearing assets and restrict capital flowing into riskier markets, while easier policy can support demand for assets such as BTC.
Warsh did not commit to either direction, instead focusing on inflation and suggesting that the central bank still has work to do before declaring victory over rising prices. The Fed's preferred PCE price index is running at 3.7% annually, well above the central bank's 2% target.
