Washington is shifting its debt financing strategy as foreign investors dumped nearly $29 billion in US Treasury bills. This move has prompted policymakers to explore stablecoin issuers as a new domestic demand source for government debt, underscoring growing reliance on the digital asset sector.
The development comes at a time when overseas appetite for Treasuries is weakening. Market figures like Robert Kiyosaki have weighed in on the issue, with some comparing expanded Treasury buybacks to quantitative easing and expressing their bullish stance on Bitcoin as a hedge against monetary expansion.
Ethereum recently climbed to $2,546, supported by steady ETF inflows and short positioning that amplified its move. Grayscale filed for a spot Zcash ETF proposing a 2.5% management fee, with the possibility of Digital Currency Group retaining up to a 34% stake in the vehicle.
