Washington Woes Weigh on XRP as Whales Bet on Clarity
The fate of XRP hangs in the balance as Washington's legislative progress on the CLARITY Act falters. The bill, which could solidify XRP's regulatory status, faces opposition from seven Democratic senators who argue it doesn't adequately address ethics provisions tied to crypto income.
Despite this uncertainty, large investors, or 'whales,' continue to accumulate XRP at a record pace. According to CryptoQuant, on July 22, whales accounted for 77.8% of all XRP withdrawals from centralized exchanges, up from 63% in early May.
Ripple has been expanding its institutional footprint, launching Ripple Mint, a platform that allows institutions to mint and manage the RLUSD dollar-pegged stablecoin. The company also made a strategic investment in compliance provider Notabene, integrating RLUSD into its payment network.
