Washington's Regulatory Wins Fail to Boost Bitcoin Demand
Bitcoin's price surge in October 2025 was short-lived, plummeting from over $126,000 to around $62,600 just ten months later. Despite regulatory wins for the crypto industry, including executive orders and legislation that removed legal barriers and gave Bitcoin official legitimacy, demand still disappeared.
The industry had faced many hurdles in its previous cycle, including enforcement through lawsuits rather than existing laws and regulations, prohibitively expensive custody, and a lack of federal framework for stablecoins. However, with the support of Washington, these issues were addressed, leaving the market without explanation for the decline.
Executives could now make product decisions without assuming every new feature would end in federal court. The industry had achieved an enormous political victory, but none required investors to keep buying at six figures.
