WBT Token Hits New All-Time High as Whitechain Shifts to Ethereum Layer 2
The WBT token reached a new all-time high of $72.70, marking a significant milestone in its four-year history. This achievement coincides with Whitechain's shift to an Ethereum Layer 2 network using the OP Stack, which is set to launch later this year.
Whitechain, the underlying blockchain project behind WBT, has abandoned its original design as a standalone Layer 1 and is now built on top of Ethereum. This move will allow it to leverage Ethereum's security while handling transactions more cheaply and quickly on its own rails.
The full supply of WBT tokens is now unlocked, and an active token burn program aims to reduce the total supply to 200 million. This change in tokenomics marks a significant departure from WBT's earlier staged release schedule, where new tokens were added to circulation as demand grew.
