Weaker Dollar Fuels Bitcoin Surge Past $80,000

Bitcoin broke above $80,000 for the first time since mid-May, fueled by a weaker US dollar and improving policy expectations. The cryptocurrency climbed as high as $81,237 before easing slightly to trade near $80,323.

The August rally has pushed Bitcoin's gains to around 28%, making it one of its strongest monthly performances in nearly two years. This surge is driven by a combination of factors, including the weaker dollar and renewed policy optimism following President Donald Trump's call for clearer crypto rules.

According to Tim Sun, senior researcher at HashKey Group, the US Treasury's move to buy back long-dated government bonds has added further support to Bitcoin and other alternative assets. This development has strengthened expectations that US policymakers may be less willing to tolerate a further rise in long-term yields, creating a relatively supportive environment for assets like Bitcoin.

Market analysts are now watching whether Bitcoin can hold these levels, with some predicting a potential move towards the $95,000 to $100,000 area. However, the strength of Bitcoin's next move depends on various factors, including the dollar's performance and the continuation of improving policy and macro backdrop.
