Wealth Managers Flock to Crypto: 60% Plan Allocation Within Year
A recent poll of wealth managers at a Bitwise presentation found that 60% plan to allocate to crypto within the next year, with 67% currently having no crypto allocation at all.
The same audience was bullish on the asset class, with 60% expecting crypto prices to finish the year higher. This shift from zero may be significant, as broader data suggest a growing interest in digital assets among investment professionals and their clients.
A separate survey by Bitwise and VettaFi found that 32% of respondents allocated to crypto in client accounts during 2025, up from 22% the previous year. Meanwhile, the share able to purchase crypto in client accounts rose to 42% from 35%. Institutional investors are also increasing their digital-asset allocations, with a survey by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon finding that 73% of respondents planned to increase their exposure this year.
This trend is driven in part by the growing availability of exchange-traded products, which have helped narrow the gap between interest in crypto and actual ownership. However, institutional investors are also becoming more cautious, with nearly half of respondents citing increased focus on risk management, liquidity, and position sizing due to recent volatility.
