Web3 Gaming Investment Plummets Amid Shift to Real-World Assets
The Web3 gaming sector is experiencing financial difficulties after a significant drop in investment. In Q1 2025, blockchain gaming projects raised only $91 million, down 71% from Q4 2024 and 68% from Q1 2024. This decline comes despite a 35% increase in the number of completed deals.
Investors are redirecting funds towards real-world assets and artificial intelligence sectors, contributing to the funding decline for blockchain games. Infrastructure-focused projects received the majority of available funding, suggesting investors are taking a longer view of the sector's development needs.
DappRadar analyst Sara Gherghelas noted that while investors are writing smaller checks, they're still actively engaging with a broader range of projects, indicating continued interest in the sector. However, she also observed that investor confidence in the long-term potential of Web3 gaming remains intact.
