Webull Brings Crypto Trading to Canada via Coinbase Partnership
Webull has launched cryptocurrency trading in Canada through its partnership with Coinbase. The expansion of Webull's Canadian product lineup allows retail customers to trade cryptocurrencies, expanding beyond stocks, ETFs, and options.
The service will be powered by Coinbase's 'Crypto-as-a-Service' infrastructure, which provides the underlying trading and custody capabilities that support Webull's new crypto access in Canada. This means Coinbase handles core trading and custody functions, while Webull acts as the front-end platform for Canadian users.
Webull cited growing interest in cryptocurrencies among Canadians, with Ontario Securities Commission research showing digital asset ownership has risen to 25% this year from 10% in 2023. The company also highlighted regulatory momentum in Canada, including work on a stablecoin framework that would apply to both domestic and foreign issuers.
For investors who already use Webull for traditional markets, the move effectively brings digital assets into the same self-directed ecosystem, potentially lowering friction for retail users who prefer established platforms and consolidated account experiences.
