WEMIX Stablecoin Breach Exposes Over 5 Million Tokens
A security breach has hit WEMIX's stablecoin, WEMIX$, allowing over 5 million tokens to be minted without authorization. The compromised contract enabled the attacker to issue roughly 5,225,525 WEMIX$ stablecoins, which were then swapped into other assets and sent off-chain.
The breach was discovered on July 26, 2026, at 18:17 KST, and emergency measures were triggered immediately. The company has paused bridges and trading as a containment step while it investigates the incident and traces the affected assets.
WEMIX has pinpointed the attacker's wallets and is monitoring the movement of funds. The company has also filed asset freeze requests with exchanges where the USDC.e was exchanged for other assets, such as ETH and USDT.
