WEMIX$ Stablecoin Contract Breach Results in $5.2 Million Token Mint
WEMIX$ Contract Breach Leads to Unauthorised Token Minting
A malicious actor seized control of a contract tied to WEMIX's stablecoin, WEMIX$, and minted 5.23 million tokens without authorization on July 26.
The attacker converted the unbacked tokens into 30,736 WEMIX and $724,198.27 in USDC.e before moving them through bridges to Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain.
WEMIX had already begun replacing WEMIX$ with USDC.e across its services, but the breach has raised concerns about the security of its infrastructure.
The incident follows a previous breach in February 2025, when an attacker stole $6.1 million from a bridge vault.
