Western Union Introduces Stablecard for Cross-Border Payments
Western Union has launched Stablecard in partnership with Rain, which combines a digital wallet with a Visa-branded card. This product lets customers hold and spend a US dollar-backed stablecoin across 37 markets.
The company aims to expand the service to over 60 markets by year-end. The stablecoin, USDPT, is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana blockchain.
Customers can receive international remittance payments directly into their USDPT wallet and send those funds to compatible crypto wallets or supported cryptocurrency exchanges. Cardholders can also spend their USDPT balances anywhere Visa is accepted, including through Apple Pay and Google Pay for mobile payments.
