Western Union Launches Stablecard for Cross-Border Spending
Western Union has launched Stablecard, a digital wallet and Visa card that allows people to receive money transfers as USDPT, the Anchorage-issued Solana token, and spend the balance anywhere Visa is accepted.
The card is part of Western Union's onchain push, which extends beyond settlement infrastructure into consumer-facing products. With Stablecard, recipients of cross-border money transfers can hold a dollar-denominated balance that they can spend without converting to local currency.
Stablecard is live in 37 markets and aims to reach more than 60 markets by the end of the year. The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and the card can be loaded into Apple Pay and Google Pay.
