Western Union Launches Stablecard for Dollar-Holding Remittance Customers
Western Union has launched Stablecard, a new USDPT-backed Visa card that lets customers hold and spend US dollar value in 37 markets from a single app.
The card is built with stablecoin infrastructure company Rain's technology and uses Western Union's dollar-pegged stablecoin, USDPT, which is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on Solana and redeemable 1:1 for US dollars.
The Stablecard app combines a digital USDPT wallet and a Visa-secured credit card in one place, allowing customers to receive Western Union transfers into the wallet, hold their balance in dollars, and spend it anywhere Visa is accepted.
Western Union plans to reach more than 60 markets by the end of 2026, prioritizing corridors with sharp currency swings and existing Visa acceptance.
