Whales Bet on Ethereum, Solana, and XRP as Bitcoin Consolidates
A significant shift in crypto capital rotation is underway as Bitcoin's price rally reshapes investor sentiment. Despite Bitcoin remaining the core institutional asset, large-cap alternatives such as Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Hyperliquid are attracting attention due to their stronger relative performance and higher-beta opportunities.
Ethereum has emerged as a leading large-cap alternative, with a whale opening an approximately $44.85 million ETH perpetual long using 25x leverage and another large position valued at roughly $107 million. This positioning places ETH at the center of the current rotation, particularly as traders seek an asset with substantial liquidity and higher upside beta than Bitcoin.
Solana is also attracting capital further up the risk curve, with one whale opening a 100,000 SOL long position worth approximately $10.45 million with 20x leverage. The token's relative strength has made it one of the market's most closely watched large-cap altcoins, and the whale positioning adds another layer to the bullish case.
XRP is attracting significant capital through investment products, recording approximately $39.78 million in weekly net inflows. This demand is tied more closely to its institutional adoption and payments narrative, giving investors a separate catalyst from the broader smart-contract and DeFi trade.
