Whales Hoard as Micro Holders Flee Amid Ongoing Price Volatility

Large Bitcoin holders are continuing to accumulate more BTC as prices remain steady in the $63,000 to $65,000 range. According to Santiment, network activity has surged due to a Coldcard hardware wallet security incident, which affected users and led them to move their funds.

Santiment's latest data shows that while whales and sharks are increasing their holdings, micro holders are reducing theirs at the fastest pace since December 2024. The uncertainty surrounding the CLARITY Act has contributed to this trend, as well as Bitcoin's ongoing period of sideways price action, which is discouraging retail participants.

The divergence between large and small holders is becoming more pronounced, with key stakeholders steadily accumulating while retail investors continue to exit. Santiment believes that this makes it more likely for BTC to climb above $70,000 rather than drop below the $60,000 level.
