Whales Snap Up Bitcoin as Retail Investors Flock to Exits
Bitcoin whales are on a buying spree, accumulating over 39,154 BTC in the past week. This move comes as retail investors cash out their profits from the recent rally that took Bitcoin to above $81,500.
The largest wallets, controlling 100 or more BTC, added approximately 43,000 BTC over the prior 60 days through mid-August. At current prices, this haul is worth between $2.75B and $2.9B. Those with even larger balances, owning over 10,000 BTC, accumulated 46,420 BTC during the same period.
On the other hand, wallets holding between 0.1 and 1 BTC recorded a negative Accumulation Trend Score of -0.982. This metric indicates that these smaller holders are selling their Bitcoin, leaving whales to buy up the available supply.
This retail exodus occurred during a 31% rally from $62,229 to above $81,500. Smaller investors took profits as prices rose, while larger whales continued to accumulate BTC.
