White County Haults Bitcoin Mining Operation Amid Community Concerns
The development of a proposed Bitcoin mining operation in White County's Pleasant Hill has been halted due to intervention from local residents. The announcement was made by White County Executive-Elect Kyle Goff, who credited J.M. Passons and his family with stopping the project.
Goff said that there will be more information released about the circumstances surrounding the project's halt, but did not provide further details at this time. He also stated that he is investigating what authority and resources the county government can utilize to block similar cryptocurrency mining developments in the future.
The county has yet to identify specific measures such as zoning changes or permitting requirements to address future cryptocurrency mining operations. Goff emphasized his gratitude towards J.M. Passons for preventing the project from entering the community, saying 'thank you to Mr. Passons for not letting this come into our community.'
