White-Hat Hackers Steal $320 Million from Liquid Network Blockchain
A massive cryptocurrency heist has occurred on the Liquid Network blockchain, with hackers draining approximately $320 million from the network. The attackers claim to be 'white-hat hackers' who intend to return the funds once a security vulnerability is fixed.
Liquid Network has stated that wallets will be affected and new transactions have been paused while federation members work to resolve the issue.
The hackers are communicating with network maintainers through Bitcoin transactions, instructing them to patch every node before the stolen funds are returned.
This incident follows several other major crypto security breaches, including a $6 million heist from crypto lending platform Tectonic last week and estimated losses of between $115 million and $130 million tied to an August attack exploiting older firmware used by Coldcard Bitcoin hardware wallets.
