Why One Cryptocurrency Dominates Ahead of Midterm Elections
The Trump administration has made moves to boost the price of Bitcoin since January 2025. Wall Street firms have also promoted Bitcoin as an investable asset class, helping it go mainstream. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin does not face significant regulatory clouds. Ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, one cryptocurrency stands out.
The White House has shown support for Bitcoin, creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. The Trump family's involvement in Bitcoin is also notable, with Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump launching American Bitcoin Corp. in March 2025. Top crypto executives met at the White House this August, leading to a surge in Bitcoin's price.
Bitcoin has Wall Street's support as well, with new products being launched for investors. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved Bitcoin perpetual futures in May. Large institutional investors are ramping up their allocation to Bitcoin, with asset management giant BlackRock recommending 1% to 2% of portfolios be invested in the cryptocurrency.
