Willie Links XRP to Global Reserve Currency Status and Major Bank Adoption
Macro expert Dr. Jim Willie has made some sweeping claims about XRP's potential role in global banking and finance. He believes that XRP could eventually join the IMF's Special Drawing Rights basket, which currently includes the dollar, euro, yen, Swiss franc, pound, and yuan.
Willie also claimed that XRP had its origins under the BlackRock roof, although he offered no documentation to support this assertion. Additionally, he referenced unverifiable documents allegedly from the IMF suggesting that XRP was designed for a role in global banking settlement.
The macro expert further stated that he is 'of absolute convinced status' that major banks such as BlackRock, JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs are holding billions of XRP, tied to speculation about non-disclosure agreements set to expire soon. However, no evidence was presented to support this claim.
Willie also discussed the CLARITY Act, which he said limits any single company from owning more than 20% of its own token. Applying this rule to Ripple's roughly 34-37 billion XRP held in escrow, he speculated that a reduction to between 14 and 17 billion coins could be required.
Willie tied all these points back to his broader argument around global de-dollarization, stating that the world is shifting towards what he called a 'neutral bridge asset' for cross-border payments. He pointed to activity across Asia as evidence, including a large Japanese loyalty program offering XRP rewards and SBI Holdings' involvement in Japan.
