Winklevoss Brothers Donate $10M in BTC Amid CFTC Settlement Reversal Bid
Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, co-founders of Gemini Trust, have donated $10 million in Bitcoin (BTC) to MAGA Inc Super PAC. This transfer was made weeks after Gemini joined with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in a bid to reverse a $5 million settlement.
The CFTC had alleged that Gemini made false or misleading statements, and a settlement was reached in January 2025 for $5 million. However, CFTC Chair Michael Selig described the original enforcement action as 'politically motivated.'
Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote to Selig in June, expressing concern over what she viewed as evidence of political interference in financial oversight.
The Winklevoss brothers have been backing President Donald Trump's administration with significant donations. Each twin donated $1 million to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign and contributed $21 million in BTC to the Digital Freedom Fund PAC after his inauguration in January 2025.
