Winklevoss Twins Hit Billion-Dollar Mark With Bitcoin Fortune
The Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler, have achieved an unprecedented milestone in the world of cryptocurrency. They are believed to be among the first Bitcoin investors to amass a billion-dollar return after the digital currency's value surged to nearly $11,500 on Monday.
The brothers invested around $11 million from their $65 million payout from a lawsuit against Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg into Bitcoin in 2013. This was one of the largest Bitcoin bets at the time, and it has now paid off handsomely with a return of nearly 10,000 percent.
Tyler Winklevoss has even gone as far as to claim that Bitcoin will be more impactful than Facebook, stating 'Bitcoin potentially could be more impactful because being able to donate $0.50 to someone across the world has more impact than potentially sharing a picture.'
