Wintermute Amasses $3M in PONS Amid Token's Wild Price Surge
Wintermute, one of the largest algorithmic market makers in digital assets, has quietly accumulated over $3 million worth of PONS tokens. According to Arkham Intelligence, a blockchain analytics firm, this position grew from approximately $2 million to more than $3 million through a series of incremental purchases on Uniswap between September 5 and an unspecified later date.
The buying pattern suggests that Wintermute is using a time-weighted average price strategy, which aims to minimize the impact on market prices by spreading purchases across time intervals. This approach is similar to dollar-cost averaging in traditional finance but is executed automatically through algorithms.
PONS serves as both the governance and utility token for Pons, a launchpad platform built on top of Robinhood Chain. The chain went live on July 1, 2026, and Pons quickly became the dominant launchpad in the ecosystem, leading in trading volume and daily active addresses.
The price trajectory of PONS has been extreme, with its value rising from near $0.003 in mid-July to peaks above $0.50 by early September, a 16,000% move over just under two months.
