Wintermute: Bitcoin's Resilience Puts it in Position for Next Rally
Bitcoin's resilience in the face of renewed rate-hike pressure is a positive sign for its potential next rally, according to Wintermute. The financial institution notes that despite the employment data lifting expectations for a September rate hike, Bitcoin finished the week up 3.45%.
The market data also shows that Bitcoin remains near $78,000, with the $80,000-$82,000 region being an important test zone. Wintermute points out that the recent rally has stronger support than earlier moves in 2026 and sees evidence that buyers continued to defend the recovery.
The inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs during the week were significant, with $987 million of net inflows marking a third consecutive positive week. This brings cumulative inflows during the streak to roughly $3.8 billion, with Thursday alone generating $731 million, the strongest daily inflow since January.
The comparison between the current market and previous cycles suggests that institutional participation may be changing how deeply Bitcoin retreats. Wintermute argues that a break above $82,000 could attract sidelined capital and reinforce momentum, particularly while positioning remains lighter than during more mature advances.
