Wintermute Dives into Traditional Markets with $1B AI Push
Wintermute, a London-based trading firm, is planning to invest $1 billion in high-frequency trading and AI data center infrastructure. This move is seen as an effort by the company to diversify into traditional markets, following a decline in cryptocurrency prices.
The investment aims to help Wintermute rebrand itself as a dealer in equities, commodities, and foreign exchange, similar to firms like Jane Street or Citadel Securities.
'We are now going up against firms that have spent decades optimizing their technology and infrastructure for these markets,' said Evgeny Gaevoy, Founder and CEO of Wintermute. 'The level of investment required is significant.'
