Wintermute Enters US Regulated Markets with Broker-Dealer License

Share

Wintermute, a leading liquidity provider in the crypto space, has made its mark on Wall Street. The company announced that its New York-based subsidiary, Wintermute USA LLC, had registered as a broker-dealer with the SEC and become a member of FINRA.

This move marks Wintermute's entry into U.S. regulated markets, enabling it to accommodate institutional counterparties in the region. The company has over $10 billion in average daily trading activity across 60-plus centralized and decentralized platforms.

The license restricts Wintermute USA to proprietary trading, allowing it to act as principal and provide liquidity in over-the-counter transactions involving U.S. equities, options, and other security-based instruments while trading for its own account.

This approval also makes Wintermute an Authorized Participant (AP) for exchange-traded products, including digital asset ETFs. As AP, Wintermute is responsible for the creation and redemption of ETF shares, ensuring that the prices of the ETF and the value of underlying assets coincide.
