Wintermute Gains Broker-Dealer Status, Expanding Into Traditional Finance

Crypto market-making firm Wintermute has secured broker-dealer status for its US affiliate, giving the company direct access to traditional securities markets.

The registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority allows Wintermute USA LLC to trade stocks and stock options, as well as act as an authorized participant for exchange-traded products.

This move is seen as a significant step in the firm's long-held view that digital asset markets and traditional finance will eventually merge.

Evgeny Gaevoy, founder and CEO of Wintermute, stated that 'digital assets and traditional finance will continue to develop in parallel, intersect in new ways, and ultimately integrate more deeply.'
