Wintermute's Broker-Dealer Registration Paves Way for Crypto ETF Expansion
Wintermute's recent registration as a broker-dealer with FINRA and SEC has opened up new paths for crypto ETFs in the US market. The company, known for its algorithmic trading firm and OTC desks, will now be able to engage in activities involving traditional securities under US law.
The registration allows Wintermute's U.S. entity to use its own funds to buy and sell securities, with a focus on market making to provide liquidity and reduce trading friction.
This move is significant for the crypto ETF space as Wintermute will become an Authorized Participant (AP) for exchange-traded products, including crypto ETFs. APs play a crucial role in enhancing market liquidity and maintaining crypto ETF prices aligned with their underlying assets' value.
