Wirex Integrates Tempo as Settlement Layer for Stablecoin Cards
Wirex has integrated Tempo as its settlement layer for enterprise stablecoin cards, providing fintech partners with a new way to settle transactions. This integration allows card issuers on Wirex's platform to select Tempo as their preferred settlement layer.
Tempo is a purpose-built blockchain for stablecoin payments incubated by Stripe. It offers fast and private settlements, with transactions finalizing in under a second and predictable sub-cent fees. Network fees are paid in stablecoins instead of a separate gas token, and structured transaction data keeps funds and settlement information on the same rail.
Wirex has been expanding its push into stablecoin-backed cards, working with Stellar and Visa on on-chain card settlement. The company's infrastructure reached $1 billion in annualized onchain volume 131 days after launch and doubled that figure 110 days later.
Ani Narayan, GTM at Tempo, said the combination of Wirex's regulated card infrastructure with Tempo's settlement network lets companies 'launch stablecoin-backed card programs' by providing hands-on support. The two companies are working together to bring more fintech and enterprise card programs onto the network.
