WLFI Nears Federally Recognized Trust Bank Status as Optimism Shifts OP Tokens
World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has made significant strides in its bid to become a federally recognized trust bank. WLTC Holdings, a subsidiary of WLFI, was conditionally accepted by the OCC for World Liberty Trust Company, a national trust bank capable of issuing a USD1 stablecoin and its safekeeping.
This development is part of the GENIUS Act system, which allows entities such as BitGo to issue the stablecoin. The move marks one step closer to WLFI's goal of becoming a federally recognized trust bank.
Meanwhile, Optimism governance has decided to shift 546.9 million OP tokens, valued at approximately $49 million or 12.7% of the total token supply, from user airdrops to a Strategic Ecosystem Fund. This fund will support OP Stack partnerships and OP Enterprise adoption, particularly in the fintech and payments sectors.
Linera, a company funded by a16z crypto with $12 million, has announced its upcoming LNRA token via Sonar and Coinbase, aiming to release a mainnet in Q4 2026. GnosisDAO has also passed GIP-153, requiring a quorum of 123,158 GNO, approving the transition of Gnosis Chain to an Ethereum Economic Zone rollup that settles on Ethereum, with a target date of December 2026.
