WMT Stock Down 24%, Guidance Miss Sparks Investor Concern
Walmart (WMT) stock has been declining since its Q1 2026 earnings in May, dropping 24% to $103.09. This decrease started after the company reported its quarterly results and continued since.
The issue was not with the actual earnings, as Walmart beat estimates with revenue of $187.94 billion, up 5.9% year over year, and EPS of $0.81. However, the company's guidance for Q3 net sales growth of just 3% to 3.75% was below expectations.
The P/E ratio has fallen to 37, close to its five-year average, but still not cheap. The dividend yield is also below the S&P 500 average at 0.95%. Analysts have trimmed their targets recently, with several firms cutting their estimates.
