World Bolsters Quantum-Proof Security in Zero-Knowledge Proving Toolkit
World has integrated 128-bit post-quantum security into its Provekit v1 zero-knowledge (ZK) proving toolkit, which enables users to verify personal information without revealing sensitive data. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommends early adoption of quantum-resistant standards to prevent attacks by future quantum computers.
The WHIR hash-based scheme is used in Provekit v1, eliminating the need for a trusted setup and allowing low-end devices to handle computations. Benchmark tests show that Provekit generates proofs in just a few seconds on standard smartphones and under 30 seconds on low-end hardware.
World ID and Ethereum aim to fully transition to post-quantum standards prior to the expected 2030s timelines, with World developing Provekit v2 to further reduce proof sizes and memory consumption while improving on-chain verification efficiency.
