World Chain, a layer-2 network built on Optimism, is set to become the first of its kind to deploy block access list technology on its mainnet on August 17. This innovation, based on Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7928, aims to significantly boost transaction throughput and reduce latency within World Chain's Flashblock architecture.

The introduction of block access lists is expected to enable the network to process up to one gigagas per second, a substantial increase over current layer-2 capabilities. This technology pre-specifies which storage slots and addresses a transaction will access, allowing the network to optimize transaction processing and reduce redundant operations.

As World Chain pioneers this innovation, it is positioned at the forefront of layer-2 scaling, potentially setting a new standard for performance in the ecosystem. The implementation of block access lists every 200 milliseconds aligns with the network's Flashblock design, which aims to deliver near-instant transaction confirmations.
