The World Foundation, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has secured $52.5 million in funding for its digital identity project, the World Network.

The money comes from a locked WLD token sale led by Pantera Capital and will be used to expand proof-of-human identity technology that helps verify real individuals in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

This is another significant investment in the project, following a private token sale in May 2023 that raised $135 million. The continued interest from investors highlights growing demand for solutions addressing digital identity challenges in the AI era.

The funding will be used to expand the technology across enterprise platforms and AI agent ecosystems, aiming to create infrastructure that can distinguish between real human users and automated systems at a time when AI tools are becoming more advanced and accessible.
