World Liberty Integrates USD1 on Canton Network
World Liberty Financial has integrated its USD1 stablecoin into the Canton Network, creating a 'cash leg' for settlements that combine stablecoin liquidity with tokenized real-world assets.
The integration positions USD1 as a solution to the coordination problem in institutional finance, where institutions struggle to efficiently manage 'cash' and 'asset' legs. World Liberty's announcement frames USD1 on Canton as a means to apply permissioning and privacy features directly within settlement transactions.
USD1 is used for derivatives collateral, institutional lending, and tokenized asset issuance and redemptions. With a market capitalization of $4.05 billion, the stablecoin ranks sixth-largest by DeFiLlama data, suggesting meaningful liquidity and visibility for institutions.
The integration with BitGo Bank & Trust continues to emphasize USD1's use in institutional settlement rather than introducing new assets or altering reserve backing. Canton Network claims to process over $9 trillion in tokenized assets each month and move more than $350 billion in onchain U.S. Treasurys daily.
