World Liberty's USD1 Stablecoin Surpasses $4 Billion in Circulation
World Liberty Financial's stablecoin USD1 has surpassed $4 billion in circulation since its launch in March 2025, according to the company. World Liberty CEO Zach Witkoff attributes the growth of USD1 to institutional demand rather than ties to President Donald Trump's administration.
The token's adoption was driven by a significant transaction involving Abu Dhabi-backed investment company MGX, which used $2 billion in USD1 for its investment in Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange. This deal gave USD1 an immediate institutional use case shortly after its introduction.
Despite concerns over political influence and foreign ownership, World Liberty has emphasized that its growth is due to market adoption rather than favorable treatment from President Trump's administration. The company has also highlighted its regulatory efforts, including the conditional approval for a national trust bank charter tied to World Liberty by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
The OCC's preliminary approval requires World Liberty Trust Company to maintain at least $20 million in eligible capital and submit an updated operating plan. The proposed entity would operate as a national trust bank, focusing on custody, reserve management, stablecoin settlement, and other fiduciary services.
