World Network Scores $52.5M for Deepfake-Fighting Tech
World Network has secured $52.5 million in funding to expand its deepfake-detection infrastructure and combat AI-generated fakes on platforms such as Zoom, DocuSign, and Tinder.
The company, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, uses its signature Orb hardware to scan users' irises and generate a biometric hash, which is then stored as a World ID. This technology has been rebranded from Worldcoin to World Network in October 2024 as it shifted focus from crypto airdrop schemes to an identity layer for the internet.
World Network's Deep Face feature combines historical Orb biometric data with live facial authentication to flag synthetic media in real-time during chats and video calls. The company claims its dataset advantage, built from over 11 million verified user scans as of early 2025, gives it a competitive edge against competitors.
