Worldcoin Surges Amid Broad Crypto Rally and Institutional Holdings Disclosure
The cryptocurrency Worldcoin (WLD) experienced a significant price surge of 8.45% in just 24 hours, mirroring a broader market trend. The increase is attributed to a combination of factors, including a short-squeeze rally and the disclosure of institutional holdings by Eightco Holdings Inc.
The short squeeze, which saw $140 million in crypto shorts liquidated within an hour, pushed Bitcoin above $80,000 and major altcoins like XRP, ETH, and BNB higher. Worldcoin (WLD) traded alongside these high-beta altcoins, suggesting it was reacting to market-wide conditions rather than a unique event specific to the token.
The institutional holdings disclosure by Eightco Holdings Inc revealed that they hold approximately 302 million WLD tokens, valued at around $0.37 each, representing about 8.3% of WLD's circulating supply and 29% of their treasury assets. This confirmation of large-scale, long-term institutional ownership in WLD has been seen as a validation of the project's thesis.
The surge in Worldcoin (WLD) price is also attributed to elevated volume and short-term speculative flows. On-chain and CEX trackers indicate that a record 37 million WLD tokens hit exchanges this week, suggesting significant repositioning and liquidity around current levels.
