Wright's 2010 Error Revives Immutability Debate Over Bitcoin

Craig Wright has reignited debate over Bitcoin's immutability principle by referencing a critical error from 2010.

In August 2010, a fake issuance of 184,467,440,737 BTC ($63,714.00) was created, but it was quickly patched out through an emergency fix.

The network participants agreed to a consensus chain that left behind the faulty block and updated the version, with no resulting balance adjustments for BTC holders.

This issue has resurfaced following a London court ruling in the COPA case, which has brought Wright's previous stance on the matter back into focus.
