Wyoming Sets New Standard for Stablecoin Transparency with Chainlink Proof of Reserve
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has made history by becoming the first US public entity to adopt Chainlink's Proof of Reserve for its Frontier Stable Token, FRNT. This move exceeds federal requirements set by the GENIUS Act, which demands monthly disclosure of reserve composition and outstanding token supply, backed by independent examination.
Wyoming was already ahead of the curve with daily collateral attestations for the token, but this integration takes it to a new level. Chainlink's Proof of Reserve now delivers verified data onchain in near real-time, narrowing the gap between periodic reports and actual visibility into what backs the token.
This development sets a new standard for stablecoin transparency in the US, with Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, calling it 'a template for other governments' to follow. The Wyoming Stable Token Commission is also working on adopting Chainlink's Secure Mint feature, which would require verified reserves to equal or exceed total FRNT supply before new tokens can be minted.
FRNT itself migrated to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol earlier this year, and today's integration deepens its adoption of the oracle network. The stablecoin was launched in January, backed by US dollars and short-term US Treasurys, with interest income directed to Wyoming's School Foundation Program.
