Wyoming Shifts FRNT Stablecoin to Chainlink's CCIP Network Amid Security Concerns
Wyoming has migrated its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) network. The decision follows a security review by the Wyoming commission, which cited concerns over security controls, certifications, node diversity, and issuer autonomy.
The review compared CCIP with other alternatives across six dimensions, including security controls, certifications, node diversity, issuer autonomy, and workflow orchestration. Chainlink's CCIP was selected for its robust security features, including 16 independent node operators on every supported chain, OCR consensus process, and Big Four-reviewed SOC 2 Type 2 certification.
Wyoming Commissioner Keith Lawhorn cited the April KelpDAO breach as a reason for the review, which resulted in a $292 million loss. He also noted that CCIP has been tested during periods of high network congestion and outages, including the COVID crash, FTX collapse, and October 2025 AWS outage.
LayerZero's CEO Bryan Pellegrino disputed some of the commission's claims, stating that his company had not lost the related private key. He also noted that FRNT was deployed on Solana with every Token-2022 extension initialized as requested by Wyoming.
