Wyoming Shifts FRNT to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol
The Wyoming state commission has moved its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). The decision follows a security review that covered FRNT's cross-chain operations and controls. Wyoming cited security controls, certifications, node diversity, and issuer autonomy as reasons for the switch.
LayerZero disputed a claim of losing a private key related to FRNT's Solana deployment. LayerZero co-founder and CEO Bryan Pellegrino said that FRNT was deployed on Solana with every Token-2022 extension initialized, as Wyoming requested. He also stated that the authority transferred within 24 hours after the commission flagged it.
The review compared LayerZero, CCIP, and other alternatives across six dimensions. Wyoming selected CCIP for its eight supported networks: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana. Chainlink's CCIP uses 16 independent, security-reviewed node operators on every supported chain.
