Wyoming Stablecoin Project Hit with Security Allegations Against LayerZero Labs
Wyoming's state-backed stablecoin project, FRNT, has been plagued by serious security allegations. According to reports, LayerZero Labs made repeated errors in its operational security processes, leading to a loss of control over a critical multisig private key used to manage FRNT deployment in the live production environment.
The Wyoming assessment found that LayerZero Labs had 'recurring serious operational security failures.' This included failing to delegate authorization for its production environment to the Wyoming Stable Token Commission. Investigations revealed that the company did not maintain control over a critical private key, which is used to manage the live FRNT deployment.
Wyoming emphasized that such a security history is unacceptable for an entity responsible for the security of state-backed digital assets. Following these developments, Wyoming moved its FRNT infrastructure away from LayerZero and switched to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) infrastructure for cross-chain messaging and transfer processes.
